The word “Baissour”

meaning
“house of the potter”.
The village of Baissour is located just 7kms from Aley, sharing a border with Keyfoun to the north, Qabr Chamoun to the south, Majdlaya to the east, and Ainab to the west.
وتتميز بالسلاسل الجبلية وأشجار الصنوبر ، وتبلغ مساحتها 850-950 مترا فوق مستوى سطح البحر ، وتغطي مساحة إجمالية 6.29 كيلومترا مربعا تقريبا.
The origin of the name of Baissour is said to be Arami-Syriani, “the place of the potter” or “the place of the Fakhouri” (the pottery maker). The name may also be derived from “fence” or “fortress” – the village was surrounded by a “wall” of pomegranate trees, for which it was famous.
Surrounded by wild oak trees, Baissour is celebrated for its olives, vines and pines. The inner roads of this beautiful village are lined with an abundance of pomegranate and fig trees, a reminder of its agricultural heritage. Industrially, thanks to the cultivation of olives, the town has become known for its olive oil.
Baissour is renowned for its hillside known as the Radar Hill – overlooking Beirut, the peaks of the mountains of Lebanon and the south. It is covered with pine trees and ancient oak. This hill has become a haven for the people of the town and tourists from other areas, because of its beautiful landscapes and peaceful outlook. On the lower side of the town is the Baysour River (Naher Baissour, نهر بيصور), which maintains its abundance of water in summer and winter. A large tourist project has been built along its banks, including a restaurant, a resort, family camping rooms and small swimming pools – all in a natural atmosphere with stunning views.
A visit to Baissour would not be complete without a tour of Jamil Molaeb Museum & Art Gallery. Here, you can meet one of Lebanon’s most diverse and prolific artists and enjoy a visual feast.
Baissour is home to one of Aley District’s most beautifully restored historic properties – HighTower Castle. Perched on the village’s highest hilltop, it offers breathtaking views over Mount Lebanon.
عائلة تلحوق was one of the first to settle in Baissour, as early as the 1500s.
وقد تم تعيين حمود خضر تلحوق من قبل داوود باشا لتقييم الممتلكات في المنطقة.
وكان خضر حمودتلحوق مديرا لمنطقة الشمال الغربي في 1900.
Born in Baissour, Mohammed Mustafa Aridi (1911-1991) was a journalist, linguist, poet, editor-in-chief of “Al-Zaman” (Time), director of the newspaper “Al-Binna”, the mouthpiece of the Syrian National Social Party, and he also ran the magazine “Good Morning”.
وكان فرحان محمد االعريضي (1910-1990) أستاذا في الشعر العامي ، وإنشا جوقه "الزاجل اللبناني".
ولد الخطاط والرسام والموسيقار في بيصور في 1938. وكان أول رجل من الشرق اسمه في كتاب غينيس للأرقام القياسية. نقش كتابا كاملا بالعربية من 160 صفحة على قطعة فضية بحجم البطاقة الشخصية. حصل على وسام الأرز.
اليوم ، لا تزال بيصور تضم العديد من الوجوه الشهيرة-بما في ذلك الفنانين والسياسيين.
جميل الملاعب هو أحد الفنانين الحداثيين الأكثر شهرة في لبنان. ابنه ، "ريبال ملاعب" ، عازف كمان مشهور دوليا. في أوقات معينه من السنه ، يعقد الموسيقي الاحداث الفنية المذهلة في متحفهم/ في بيصور
والفنان الشهير الآخر ، المولود في بيصور ، والذي يعيش الآن في أميركا ، هو مروان العريضي. خطاط عربي ، وتصاميمه مدرجة في الكتب والمجلات والإعلانات وعدد كبير من الاعمال الفنية المكلفة في جميع انحاء العالم.
وبيصور مسقط راس وديع يوسف ملاعب (1914-1984)-الصحفي والشاعر والسياسي البارز ، ومؤسس رابطة العمل الوطني العربي في الاربعينات .
كما انه موطن للسياسي اللبناني غازي العريضي.
في بيصور بعض أقدم أنقاض لبنان – وهو مسكن حجري قديم يعتقد انه يبلغ من العمر أكثر من 1000 سنه ، وينتمي إلى عائلة ضاهر
التقليد تقول ان تاريخ بنائه يعود إلى القرن العاشر الميلادي. ويعود تاريخ قاعة مجلس القضاء إلى حقبة التانخية ، إلى وقت وصول العائلات الاولي في منتصف القرن التاسع الميلادي..... في هاتين القاعتين النقوش العربية في الحجر ، ولكل منها مجلس العديد من المقاعد الحجرية.

الفنان اللبناني المشهود عمر اونسي (1901 – 1969) ، وهو طالب من الشهير خليل الصليبي من بتالون، وكان من المعروف ان زيارة بيصور للإلهام-على الرغم من ان القرويين اتخذت إلى حد ما فوجئت به. وفي استعراض للمعرض الشخصي ال1932 لعمر اونسي ، ذكر كاتب لصحيفة "االمراد" ان القرويين الذين شاهدواه بالشك والخوف كانوا يتجولون في قرية بيصور ، باحثين عن منظر طبيعي للرسم... فروا منه عندما راواه يمشي بين الشجيرات ، في الوديان وعلى راس التلال... بالقرب من الربيع ، ركضت السيدات الشابات بعيدا في نهج Onsi ".
